In my first printmaking class, I made multiple prints through the use of different techniques. The consistent theme that appears in all the prints are of death related architecture, keeping the siliarity of my senior thesis continuing through the work in my other classes. Through the use of etching, dry point, aqua-tint, and woodcuts, I've learned what the use of a new artistic technique can help me uncover.

Printmaking forced me to think in terms of a complicated process, rather than simply getting pigment to reflect light and make images on canvas. It comes with an empowering trait by being able to think in terms of reproducting pieces that express their outlook, and those that disseminate ideologically engaged materials. It allows me to produce fine lines prints which make it easier to concentrate on the drama of color and larger shapes.

Between the use of needles, printmaking tooks, and carving tooks, its allows me to find a relationship with the images to help create unique art pieces. With printmaking, I learned that I needed a plan, and composition. To create one, I had to have an idea or image I wanted to communicate. I learned that once I had a composition it had to be executed with care and forethought, that each mark on the final paper would be there because I put it there. It all was inteded, considered, and concretet. The planning and forethought were what made it my unique expression.
