August 2015 - May 2016

For my senior thesis, I created an exhibition exploring how architecture changes the way death is handled and percieved. Early on, death was much more normalized than it is today. Death is sanitized and separated into not only a spiritual and symbolic side of how we cope with death, but also the large industrialized business side of death. Society is much more focuseed on the figurative and represenative side of what happens after death, which is easily shown through achitecture by masking the actuality of how death is processed. Buildings are built to emphasize and show more of the naturalistic and calming aspects we associate with death, highlighting the grief and healing of the living, rather than the actuality of death associated with the deceased. Buildings are built to conceal the program of what is inside. Crematoriums are often masked to look like they hold nothing other than condolence halls and grieving centers; shoving the assembly line of machines creating ashes that we conceal in an urn underground.

December 2015 - May 2016

I worked in collaboration with Shannon Starkey, Assistant Professor of Architecture at the University of San Diego conducting research alongside my Senior Thesis. The topic of my project and research was discovering how architecture shapes the changing views of society, through exploiting what is hidden or exposed purposefully through the use of architecture, and how the desensitization of industrialization helped play a part.

The most professional work through my schooling outside of a class, helped further my education and strengthen my desire to further my work in architecture, learning the importance of in-depth study and research.

I am a 21-year-old recent graduate from the University of San Diego, with BA in Architecture as of May 2016. Looking forward to any opportunities to expand my experience beyond the classroom, I possess excellent research, time management and problem solving skills. Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and consistently meet deadlines. I am hard working, straight-minded, and ambitious. I have exceptional analytical skills in any situation, excellent communication and presentation skills and am a dedicated team player who is also able to work unsupervised. I am able to create architectural designs and plans that make sense to clients. I am proficient in software’s such as Rhino, Auto CAD, Revit, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Word and Excel.

Being an ambitious individual who is looking to broaden my career path, my background lays mostly in education. However, I am open to new challenges within an industry and am willing to work hard to reach my goals. I enjoy contributing new ideas, I am self motivated, and an excellent team player and I work well under pressure and understand the importance of time management.

My interest in architecture emerges from observation over the years of lifestyle an architect leads, with a strong belief that society as a whole respects architects and the work that they do. The field also offers some great career opportunities, which leads for great potential for progression and advancement later in life. My interest in a career that is worthwhile and rewarding that aims to make a difference and a viable impact on our surroundings, and people's lives and society in general is what stands out the most to me.

All things considered, I would love to turn my interest in architecture into a lasting career. I believe that my existing skills and experience, coupled with my commitment to become an architect along with my desire to learn more makes me an ideal candidate to become a team member of any firm.

About

Sunless Revolution
Spencer Gifts Retail Store

March 2015 - May 2016

For a part time job in college, I learned the majority of my sales skill during the duration of this job. My job consisted of custom airbrushing our clients, while making them feel welcomed and comfortable. I worked partly off commission, so a large part of my job was sales. I had enough experience to open and close the salon, given the responsibility of tending the salon, making sure it is presentable, handling the customer and sales, along with any issues that may have arose.

I left this job on good terms to move up north to the Sacramento area.

October 2012 - December 2014

As a first time sales position job, I learned a lot of responsibility and people skills working here in retail. I ran the registers, maintained the store's image, greeted customers and provided customer service, cleaned the store, set the walls and arranged the store, and provided help wherever needed. I got multiple secret shop awards while working here.

I left this job on good terms to attend college in San Diego.

Camp Leader

June 2008 - April 2012

As a Catechist Aide, for many years I organized Sunday schools for children and participants. I taught and interacted with children of all ages and their parents. I held the responsibility a teacher does in a classroom format, and learned many leadership skills from the many years I participated in my teaching.

I left this job on good terms to attend college.

June 2008 - July 2012

I lead and took responsibility for the children in my care, learning the responsibility to plan and organize days, sticking to a schedule and making adjustments in a timely manner when needed. I offered up my time for this organization continuously for many years.
